Attendance:
All Delegates that participate in VikingMUN are expected to arrive on time for every single session. If a delegate should be absent or late during any part of the conference, their faculty advisor must notify the VikingMUN secretariat. Delegates must not and may not visit friends in other committees or leave their committee during an unmoderated caucus. Delegates shall only be allowed to leave the room to get a drink of water or to go to the bathroom.
Pre-Write:
Pre-written documents such as working papers, draft resolutions, press releases, directives, attached and crisis notes are strictly prohibited at VikingMUN. Pre-written documents not only put other delegates at a disadvantage but they also undermine the spirit of Model United Nations, which is the use of diplomacy and collaboration to solve the issues at hand. If a delegate is found with any of these pre-written documents, the chair will notify the school advisor immediately. Further, the delegate will be disqualified from the awards process. For that reason, the use of technology shall not be used during the conference unless it is to write working papers and draft resolutions. If a delegate is found using any kind of technology during the conference, it will be taken away and only given back to write working papers and draft resolutions.
Position Papers
Position papers are required for VikingMUN in order to be considered for awards. Position papers should be submitted by (Dec 9) in the google classroom that corresponds to your committee. Feedback on position papers will not be given unless asked for. Delegates who wish to receive feedback on their papers should add a note on the last page of their submission in bold. Example (*Feedback requested)
Guidelines:
Position papers should cover the issues/issues at hand from the perspective of their country or character. They should note significant stances and past actions relating to the topic(s). Further, delegates should discuss any solutions and/or ideas they plan to propose during the committee sessions. These solutions should align with the delegation's beliefs and should be based on a delegate's opinion.
Papers should be written in size 12 Times New Roman font, Single spaced and should beat least one page in length not including the sources cited.
Any work that is referenced MUST BE listed at the end of all papers in MLA format. While in text citations are preferred, they are not required. Delegates found to have plagiarized ANY part of their position paper will not be eligible for awards and their advisor will be notified.
All papers must be submitted in a PDF file and should be titled: School name, delegation/character, committee ( e.x Bishop Verot, United States, DISEC)
